Members of our Grounds Committee were in Batterstown this morning making the final preparations ahead of this eveningβs Division 2 Final, which Blackhall Gaels is proud to host.
The pitch is in immaculate condition thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and our new mower, recently acquired by the Executive and Grounds Committee. We have also recently installed new ball-stop nets in both Batterstown and Kilcloon, improving not only the appearance of our grounds but also their functionality for matches and training for years to come.
This morning, Philip McCormack and John Keane lined the pitch, Michael Mullally raised the Irish, Blackhall Gaels and Meath flags, while Jimmy Burke put the finishing touches to the grounds. Later today, more volunteers will arrive to steward the car park, manage the gates and help ensure the evening runs smoothly.
When the final whistle has blown, the cup has been presented and supporters have headed home, our volunteers will still be there, taking down the flags, collecting litter, locking up and closing the gates after another successful occasion.
So much of what they do happens behind the scenes, but it never goes unnoticed. We are incredibly fortunate to have people who give so generously of their time for the benefit of our club and community. Blackhall Gaels simply wouldn't be the club it is without them.
To every member of our Grounds Committee and to all our volunteers, we can only say Go raibh maith agaibh. Your work, commitment and pride in our club are appreciated more than words can say.
