Well done to the Men's Intermediate team who recorded a first round win over Nobber earlier today in Seneschalstown.
Blackhall put in a brilliant second half performance, outscoring their opponents 2-7 to 0-2 in the second period. Second half goals from Luke Jennings and Paul Kelly turned the game on its head having gone into the dressing room down by 6 points at the half time break.
Nobber started brightly, opening up a 4 point lead before Blackhall registered a point through Dan Carty. Half way through the first half it was 5-3 to Nobber who were aided by a stiff breeze. Nobber pulled further ahead on 21 minutes with another point before they got the opening goal of the game with 26 minutes gone to lead 1-6 to 0-3.
It was a lead that Nobber deserved having played the better football in the first half and punishing a couple of the Blackhall mistakes. Aided by that breeze Blackhall got off to a good start in the second period. Cousins Luke and Liam Jennings converted a pair of frees each to bring the lead back to 2 before the turning point in the game, Blackhall’s first goal in the 43rd minute. Luke Jennings finished a well worked move to give Blackhall the lead for the first time. 4 minutes later Blackhall were 4 points up when Paul Kelly blasted to the net with his left from an acute angle. Liam Jennings added another free to push the lead out to 5 before Nobbers first point of the second half on 53 minutes. The teams traded scores again before Dan Carty closed out the game with his second point of the game deep into injury time.
