Match summary: It was a tense encounter for the Blackhall ladies in the 6th round of the league against St. Patricks last Wednesday. Blackhall took the first score of the match with a point from Suzanne Kelly but St. Patricks were not too far behind to get a score on the board. The first half began to prove difficult for Blackhall with a large number of wides which should have put them well ahead of the visitors. Both teams took every chance they could get but by half time the score only reached 3 points apiece.

With a positive half time talk, Blackhall began to find their footing with just minutes into the second half leading by 5 points. Soon that lead began to lesson as St. Patricks took full advantage of Blackhall’s wides. It was the determination of our Kate Murphy can lifted the spirits of her team with Kate providing support play in both forwards and backs. She was a force to be reckoned with hence the reason she was our player of the match. Both Teams proved how much they wanted to win and most certainly endured a physical game. Our Paula Dunne took a bad knock with one of the St Patrick’s players when they collided for the ball mid-air but luckily neither was injured. With Blackhall leading by just 3 points, St. Patricks had some great passes and with a strong full forward line, they shot a goal right past the Blackhall goalie proving this match was not over. Moment later our Sinead Sullivan was sin binned for not wearing her gum shield leading to Blackhall being one player down. Fortunately our Suzanne Kelly still had some steam left in the tank and scored the final decider with a point just before Full time securing Blackhall with a place in the League final.
