Ballivor travelled to face Blackhall in Batterstown on Sunday morning. This was always going to be a tough 3rd round between the top two teams in the league.

Ballivor started with the first point of the game in the first 5 minutes which soon followed by the first goal for the opposition. Blackhall soon began to build up some momentum after a slow start with fantastic points from Suzanne Kelly which added the pressure to the visiting side. Things could have gotten whole lot worse for Blackhall but Sarah O’ Keane stood strong in goals and made a remarkable save dashing Ballivor’s hopes at getting another goal before half time. It was Leona Nestor that began to lift the spirit of the Blackhall ladies with an impressive goal leading to both teams being neck and neck at half time.

The second half started again with Ballivor taking the lead with a point but once again Blackhall came back fighting. Blackhall’s chance at winning was definitely improved by the skilful play of Caroline Griffin. With her pace and ability to read the ball, she really was unstoppable in centre back. Blackhall knew this game was theirs for the taking, and three more superb goals from Sabrina Kelly, Emer Nolan and Sarah Ledden helped them take it. Overall a great performance for Blackhall in both attacking and defence and again it’s looking like an exciting year ahead for this team.
